Now it’s finally time for the next KaffeBox, the reason why it’s taken such a long time is that of Postnord (Swedish postal service) requires a declaration cost from the recipient and an added 21 days of delivery time. Just because Norway (KaffeBox is Norwegian) hasn’t joined the EU. I have to add that it’s very strange Sweden has no exception to our neighbors.
This will be the sixth time for KaffeBox, you can read the most previous post here. This month, the coffee comes from the Norwegian Trondheim roastery, Jacobsen og Svart. This week we will review one coffee from Ethiopia and one from Rwanda.
As usual, I start with an informative text about the coffee:
Jacobsen og Svart, Trondheim, Norway.
1) Ethiopia Guji Gigessa
Personal cupping and recipe will be published 2018-07-05
Origin: Ethiopia
Variety: Heirloom
Farm: Faysel Abdosh
Region: Shakiso, Guji
Process: Natural
Altitude: 1900 meters above sea level.
Cupping notes:
Blueberry, strawberry, sweet cherry
Expectation: The description tells me it’s a coffee that I will never get tired of, a high-level coffee in every cup and has a taste that many relate to coffee. Guji is an area a lot of coffee comes from, it is sweet fruity and has a nice taste.
2) Rwanda Gataba
Personal cupping and recipe will be published 2018-07-06
Origin: Rwanda
Variety: Red Bourbon
Farm: Epiphanie & Samuel Muhirwa
Region: Nyamagabe
Process: Washed
Altitude: 1 900 meters above sea level.
Cupping notes:
Peach, citrus fruits, brown sugar.
Expectation: It feels like it’s very in with coffee from Rwanda, I have a feeling that the coffee will have a taste of green tea… Again. I found it interesting in the beginning but now it’s just getting dull.
Conclusion: It’s the first time I’m trying out coffee from Jacobsen og Svart, so it’s will definitely be interesting to try coffee from a Norwegian roastery again. There’s usually a lot of reviews of coffee from Swedish, Danish and then very spread out. They have also been active since 2012, so they are quite old in the coffee roaster game, so to speak.
That’s why I’m very grateful to KaffeBox, it’s truly an incredible service that sends the best Scandinavian coffee home to you.
The packaging is a very industry standard, brown carton packaging with regular printing. Sometimes you don’t need more than a name and good coffee, that’s what really counts after all. This will be intriguing to try out, see you all tomorrow!
