First and foremost, I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas with lots of delicious food and drinks!
I’ve written a lot about coffee (of course), but also a bit about cocktails. However, my writing has stagnated somewhat, which could be due to several factors. There have been things getting in the way, and sometimes that’s just how it goes. I’m still very active in continuing to write recipes, test products, and create top lists, among other things.
I really want to write more about food – it was something I fell in love with even before I started with specialty coffee. But today, I think we’ll find ourselves somewhere in between.
I love cheese and charcuterie boards, and the absolute best pairing is, of course, a glass of wine. In this post, I found a wine from the temporary selection at Systembolaget. I honestly don’t know what made me buy it … Was it because it was white wine, the fun label, or the fact that it came from Hungary? I have no idea. But the description of the wine was interesting, at least: fruity, youthful, slightly aromatic flavor with hints of pear, peach, white currants, honeydew melon, lime, and herbs.
Once the wine was tempered to 8 degrees Celsius, I got started. Personally, I found the taste a bit all over the place – I couldn’t find the balance I imagined a white wine “should” have. Also, keep in mind that I’m a layman in this field! But I think we’ll take this journey together and find some favorites. For me, Soltész Egri Csillag Selection didn’t quite hit the mark, but on the other hand, the leftover wine was used in a white wine sauce for fish, and it worked perfectly.
By the way, when it comes to Hungarian wine, I automatically think of Tokaj – but, of course, this was something entirely different.
All the best! Now we set our sights on New Year’s Eve!
