This year, I’ve decided to write more about all kinds of things – and well, I’ve already started. But now it’s time for something especially close to my heart: semla season!
As everyone knows, it’s finally that time of the year again, and I’ve given myself the mission to try several semlor from different places in Örebro. The goal? To find and crown my favorite semla of 2025.
First up is @stadstradgardenorebro, where I’m starting with their classic semla.
The picture I took is just from my phone, but honestly – who really cares? What matters here is the taste. First of all, the bun is exactly what I expect from a traditional semla. It doesn’t stand out in any particular way, but it’s fluffy, well-balanced, and delivers what it should.
The cream, though… wow. It’s silky smooth, airy, and melts in your mouth in the most perfect way. And then we get to the almond paste – and this is where the magic happens. It tastes like caramelized almonds that have been crushed into a creamy dream. It adds a deep, almost toffee-like flavor that takes the entire semla to the next level.
Honestly? I’m shocked. The very first semla I try, and it’s already one of the best I’ve ever had. Maybe I don’t even need to try more…?
Well, of course, I will – the hunt for the best semla of the year has only just begun!
