The Coffeevine November 17 Box Preview

Now it’s finally time to write about the Coffeevine’s November 17 box, in this post I will write a few short posts about each coffee, where the coffee roaster is from, where the coffee comes from and my expectations about the coffee itself.

1) Climpson & Sons, London, England.

Origin: Kenya
Variety:  Arabica SL 28 SL 34
Farm: Slopes of 8 Smallholders
Region: Kirinyaga
Process: Washed
Altitude: 1500-1800 meters above sea level.

Cupping notes:
Red grape, vanilla & cantaloupe.

Expectation: I think Climpsons & Sons coffee wins in The Coffeevine November box. It sounds like an acidic and laid back coffee that is perfect for relaxing. The slopes of 8 farm are terrific and I expect an awesome cup of coffee!

2) Casino Mocca, Budapest, Hungary.

Origin: Ethiopia
Variety: Mixed Heirloom
Farm: Bulega
Region: Warqee, Guji
Process: Washed
Altitude: 1900 meters above sea level.

Cupping notes:
Peach,clementine & black tea.

Expectation: As in the previous month there will be a battle between coffee from Ethiopia, this is the first Ethiopian coffee for The Coffeevine November Box. It has traditional tones and I expect a good coffee, but I have higher expectations from Stooker’s Ethiopian coffee.

3) Stooker, Amsterdam, England.

Origin: Etiopien
Variety: Mixed Heirloom
Farm: Chelelektu, Gedeo
Region: Kochere, Yirgacheffe
Process: Washed
Altitude: 2 000-2 200 meters above sea level.

Cupping notes:
Peach, creamy, almond, floral & tangerine.

Expectation: Last month, a coffee from Chelelektu won the battle of Ethiopia, but this month is getting a bit more difficult. The coffee has just like 2) traditional tones and better character. I think there are more tones of dark chocolate and blueberries in this coffee than peach and tangerine, but it remains to be seen; exciting!

Conclusion: There are two of three bags of coffee from Ethiopia. Of the two Ethiopians, Stooker sounds like the most exciting. That doesn’t mean that Casino Mocca roasts coffee bad/less good, but it’s too casual. Then there is the coffee from Kenya left, together with Stookers it is the most exciting coffee in this Coffeevine November box.

Of all of these three, I think that Climpson & Sons coffee from Kenya will be the most thrilling and delicious coffee. And as usual I base this on the type of bean, process and cupping notes.
